Sharon Stone
Hi, I’m Sharon! I am a counselor-in-training at Full Life Counseling, pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands. Counseling is a field I have felt drawn to since my undergraduate work at Guilford College in North Carolina. I am being trained in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy). I come to counseling as a second career, having worked in the nonprofit world. In 2018, I founded the Charlottesville-based literacy nonprofit The Free Book Bus, through which I love working with children, teens, schools, and organizations to help local families build home libraries. Eight years of regular bus stops have taught me how much power there is in genuinely connecting with people.
My approach to counseling is person-centered and experiential. If you choose to work with me, my priority is that you feel safe, unconditionally valued, and welcome in therapy. If you find it helpful to combine emotion and action, we can use objects, such as small figures representing emotions or parts of yourself, to process difficult feelings. I believe counseling can help transform pain and difficult experiences into new ways of relating and greater ease in connecting with others. I have experienced the power of a good therapeutic relationship in my own counseling and would be honored to walk alongside you in yours. I am especially interested in working with those in life transitions, and people experiencing anxiety.
